I am looking for web hosting which can hold up to 2000 people online at a time , right now i am on bluehost and hold up to 600 people online before the site goes down
I have tried vps and dedicated server as well , vps 768mb ram and could hold only 300ppl and dedicated 2gb ram only 500 , so far shared working best and cheap for me but give me some ideas…

You could try HostMonster. http://www.hostmonster.com
They’re great!
Hey,try bluehost.com

hope it helps.

VPS won’t solve your problem. VPS is ideal for those who want to install their own software, frameworks etc. (because you don’t get to do that on shared hosting). Most people think that they can upgrade from shared to VPS and get good benefits in terms of speed, traffic handling, but usually don’t. I think you have your own proof wherein your VPS supported 300 vs your 600 on shared hosting. (By the way, 600 is impressive
). But I am surprised that your dedicated didn’t better than shared hosting and let me tell you that unless you had a very low quality dedicated server, it is very abnormal for that to happen. What were you on? Did you have Xeon processors? Just curious. Anyway, I know it costs a fortune for dedicated hosting, so you can definitely do one of the following.
This may sound ironical but you shouldn’t probably go for unlimited hosting. Why? Because your site is one of those kinds which will make the unlimited hosts ‘lose money’. If all the other users had sites like you, then they (bluehost) will be able to accommodate very less users on the server on which you are placed. And they won’t be able to sell their plans for such cheap rates. They usually depend on people who have very less traffic (and seems you are doing great in that department and hence are not their "preferred kind of customer"). I am sure they would have sent you a warning (or would do so in near future).
This should hopefully solve your problems. You can go for higher-end shared plans which give you a greater bandwidth (but they tell you what you get and not say "unlimited" which by the way isn’t true). Try and get a bandwidth of not less than 400 GB (actually more the better).
All the best.
Hi Aaron,
Skylark gets credit for explaining the different hosting plans and hosting types well. But what you’re missing is a provider that will sit down and go over the app with you to customize a solution. I’m certain that one dedicated server is enough to handle 2000 people depending on the app. But the server needs to be optimized well (SQL, Web server, caching, etc). I recommend looking for a fully managed provider from a smaller web host that will listen to you and help out.
Best
