When sharing the connection, the first system has to be the DHCP server. The static IP can be changed to anything you like, but will probably cause you problems. 192.168.0.1 is a standaard setting. Don't worry, no one outside of your network can access this address as it is a local only one. Hope this helps

In addition to attempting to learn "on your own" there are online courses that will keep you going in the right direction. I started with a book, then another book, lots of research online for specific things I wanted to do or problems as they occurred. It took years, 4 or 5, to really get it down. On line you can sign up for classes at http://www.lvsassociates.com/register/index.php?cPath=5_28 . There are three courses, Build Your Web Site, I, II and III. Each are six weeks long and I can guarantee you will know if this is what you really want to do about half way into the second course. Unfortunately there is a short break between each course.

It is best to know HTML coding, which the above course will teach you. You will be using a simple text editor, Notepad or EditPad. Once you learn something about HTML, suggest you download HTML-Kit, build 292, which is free. It will do much of the laborious work required using only a simple text editor.

Keep in mind that if you sell yourself as a web designer and expect payment for your services then you better be good at all aspects of web design. There is asp, php, javascript and maybe others that you are going to have to learn. If you are asked to do something by someone and you have to tell them you don’t know how, then they are not going to ask you a second time to do something even it is is straight HTML.

If you want you use WYSIWYG editing softwares then it takes about only 5 mins to look at all the options and how you would like to use them, but if you want to learn HTML, in real sense, then you would take about 3-4 days depending on how much you want to learn, because there is no limit to it! Many web hosting services provide a WYSIWYG editor for their sites. If you ask me, I would suggest you code by hand, because you KNOW what you are doing!
