Web Dedicated Hosting

I’m going to get a hosting with high bandwidth and I see many shared web hostings with high (500 GB) bandwidth but I”ve no idea what exactly they are and if they are reliable. Please help me choose a right hosting. I’ve been looking for a web hosting and found these two interesting: www.1and1.com and www.webhost4life.com
So please let me know about your experience and information in this case…

I am going to start over six companies. One company will import products from other countries and there will be different websites with different names devoted to the different types of products (All of these will be online stores). Also, there will be three or four different websites that will contain information about business start-ups, video uploads, etc. Should I go with a reseller account? Why is there such a difference between the disk and bandwidth space between shared hosting and reseller hosting? Also, how much space do you think I will need to host all of these? I am not sure how much disk space and bandwidth I need. Thanks a lot.

I hosted with squarebrothers.com and series of problems haunted me and my website. I wanted to transfer to net4.in but online reviews are reminding me my past horrible experience. These are for static portfolio websites I guess.

I run a daily updated blog that grows rapidly in both size and number of unique visitors.

I run a wordpress blog with at least 2500 unique page views.

I don’t want to have any problems like "bandwidth exceeded" or "CPU resource abuse" or anything else

Can anyone recommend a shared linux hosting service?

Do I need to go to VPS or dedicated server otherwise?

I invite all recommendations with any plan of web hosting though I prefer Indian company. Do I need to host with US companies for shared or VPS or dedicated server palns? any recommendations on which company?

I am standing with just backup, I don’t want to end up like this again so please help me if you know a hosting company with very good customer support.

I have been a customer of BlueHost for a long time, but with the rise of user submitted video content coupled with the lack of the ffmpeg module I am forced to look elsewhere for hosting providers…

I have been researching web hosts that offer the ffmpeg module for video conversion to flv. In your opinion, which webhost is the highest quality in terms of price, up-time, speed, bandwidth, and file storage space in a shared hosting environment?

Please keep in mind that ffmpeg is necessary to the completion of my website…

I spoke to support @ godaddy…they don’t support ffmpeg…so, yeah – don’t trust you.

I have purchased a domain at godaddy.com. It comes with free shared hosting. Will there be advertisements on the site? If so, how can I host it so there won’t be any?

Is buying a domain enough? Or do I need to host it somewhere? What does hosting mean?

In Microsoft Publisher I have developed my website with video and text. On each page I have changed the "Web Page Options" so it has the description and keywords to help people find the site through search engines. Then I have saved it under "Publish to the Web…" and I assume I will later upload that to the hosting server? I am not sure how I load the site to the web, how the hosting works, etc.

I need your help understand the role hosting plays, how that works, and its relationship with advertising. I want no ads on the site. Any further comments on what to do in Microsoft Publisher are appreciated.

And as for the video in Publisher, I first loaded the wmv file to YouTube and pasted the embed code in a box called "HTML Code Fragment" in Publisher.

I have a list of current movies hosted on Rapidshare (not mine, just those I’ve found).

For those of you who may not know, Rapidshare is a file sharing service. Many of these files aren’t exactly "legal".

Are there any free web hosting companies that will allow me to post links to these files?

I am currently with godaddy on their economy shared hosting plan.

The problem is I have no idea how popular the site is going to be. It is a UK based site dealing with Gold Panning – goldpanningsuppliesdotcodotuk. I think if there is some mention of Gold Panning on the television there may be 400 hits in a day, but most of the time probably around 20. But I have no real way of knowing until a spike hits. I am going to announce its launch on a very popular gold panning forum, so would like to be prepared for about 200 hits on the first day. That may be way optimistic but I would hate if the site crashed and lost all that good will.

If you look at the site you can see there are two embedded youtube videos. If you click twice I assume the viewer is consuming youtube bandwidth, but if just once am I right in assuming this would consume my bandwidth?

Say there would be a max of 20 people watching these videos simultaneously. Would the economy virtual dedicated server be capable of handling this? I would like to try this for the first month, or maybe until the first TV article induced peak. And then scale back if the estimates were over optimistic.

Would a godaddy VDS be capable of handling this.

Question 2) Can you check out the site and tell me if the current download time is acceptable. Particularly when you click gold equipment. And then Gold Pans. Is it just my imagination or is it very slow? Would moving from the economy shared host to the premium shared host speed things up? Would moving to a VDS speed things up.

You can probably see I am all over the place. Trying to understand how different hosting plans can deal with numbers of simultaneous hits/effect on speed/how to calculate bandwidth used per hit etc.

If you were using the estimated figures I have provided which plan would you go for.

I have to eplain the reasoning to my cousin whos site it is, so much detail would be appreciated. Please dont advise me to move from godaddy as I have found this stressful enough as it is. Migrating host 1 month before launch and losing the yearly subscription would freak me out!
